  1. thanks for the great report & photos…and inspiration to get off my backside and do a similar bike journey I’ve been “thinking” about for a few years!

  2. still sounds like a good trip, and don’t worry about the train ride in between its all part of the fun. look forward to seeing the pics

    • Hi Peter

Ah yeah the trains in France wasn’t what I’d call fun, but it was an interesting experience either way. Especially when a transient guy offered to show me a good ‘wild’ camping spot in the middle of Lyon haha.

I didn’t take him up on the offer.

  3. Hi Karl,
Thanks for the review of your trip, its really helpful advice. I hope the knee holds up for the next trip.
I am commuting with the VWR in Melbourne and its riding really well. I am planning where to go next year and decided against norway and sweden because of the weather too. I think there are more things to see down south too.

    All the best,
    Rowan

    • Hi Rowan

Yep I have to go see my podiatrist and get it sorted. No major rush right now though as I am only needing to commute 7km on average with a single pannier bag, not nearly enough to flare the knee up.

Northern Norway would be amazing.. but not sure about doing it on a bicycle due to the weather, hills and sketchy tunnels. Maybe on a motorbike??

France is pretty awesome, despite the lack of cycle paths. As I mentioned previously check out the EuroVelo network. I think that would be a good bet as it takes you through some amazing areas and is easier to plan out.

All the best with your planning. Any Qs feel free to ask.

      Karl
